Here at nuuwaï, we believe fashion is even more beautiful when created consciously. 

Our vegan bags are lovingly made using apple leather (AppleSkin), a cruelty-free, eco-friendly leather alternative made using apple waste from the juice industry. Our collection consists of must-have, essential styles that were mindfully designed to fit every moment of your life. Simple, minimal design, urban look, and quality craftsmanship are the key components that go into each and every nuuwaï bag. 

We believe what we wear represents what we believe in. That’s why when producing our bags, we didn’t compromise on any of our values. Our apple leather bags are PETA approved vegan and ethically made in a small, family-owned factory in India (have a look here!) with which we are in touch with regularly. For our lining, we use nylon made of 100% recycled ocean plastic bottles and fishnets, as part of the ECOALF Foundation’s „Upcycling the Ocean“ project. OUR STORY

Believe it or not, the idea to start nuuwaï came coincidentally. Our founder, Svenja Detto, is an ethical vegan with a lot of passion for animals (especially her cats, Schroder and Gandhi) and the environment. One evening, while she was watching the news, she came across apple leather: “I was really amazed by the idea of turning apple waste into a vegan leather. It always bothered me that most vegan bags are completely made of PU or PVC, so I started looking for apple leather bags, but couldn’t find any. That’s when I decided to make them myself, and that’s how nuuwaï was born!”.

nuuwaï is here to represent the new way of creating fashion, with the highest respect for animals, humans, and nature. Our vision has always been to show that with this new way, there’s no need to compromise on quality, style, or values. With this new way, we are able to offer cool, refreshing designs for new-age thinkers and change-makers around the world.
